The incident came when the South Zone was already in serious trouble. East Zone had posted a massive 708 in their first innings, while South had lost eight wickets for less than 330 despite playing on a good batting pitch in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2026 final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
