Justin Timberlake is reflecting on the 20th anniversary of his second studio album, “FutureSex/LoveSounds.”
The 45-year-old singer took to Instagram to mark the milestone moment and thank fans for their support over the years. “Life-changing. THANK YOU,” he captioned the post, showing an image from the 2006 album.
Produced with his longtime collaborator Timbaland, the album was released on September 8, 2006, and featured 12 songs. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and had three Hot 100 No. 1 singles: “SexyBack,” “My Love,” and “What Goes Around… Comes Around.”

The music video for the song featured Scarlett Johansson, who bears a strong resemblance to Cuthbert.
Despite its success, the album received mixed reviews at the time of its release, something Timberlake understood.
“When I put it out, everybody was laughing at me – critics, radio programmers and to their credit, I understand why,” Timberlake told Myspace. “I just think that [Timbaland] and I were onto something different and I just think that anytime you put out something different, it’s polarizing. And polarizing is good, I think, because polarizing starts a conversation.”
