A man transporting hundreds of pounds of cocaine worth roughly $3.8 million through Indiana was arrested during a traffic stop on Sunday, state police said.
Police said Harpreet Singh, of Greenwood, Indiana, was allegedly driving a truck eastbound on I-70 in Putnam when officers with the Indiana State Police stopped him for a commercial vehicle inspection.
Singh told the officers he was transporting an empty trailer from Memphis, Tennessee, to Indianapolis, police said.
The vehicle was impounded during the traffic stop after one of the officers noticed the driver was operating below industry standards. During the enforcement, officers found several duffle bags that contained a total of roughly 277 pounds of cocaine — estimated to be worth roughly $3.8 million, police said.
Singh was taken into custody by ISP and transported to the Putnam County Jail.
