For the second time in a week, Penfield native Gage Ziehl pitched in Buffalo, shining for the Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
In his two starts against the Buffalo Bisons, Ziehl combined for 11.2 innings, allowing two earned runs.
Start One | September 1: 6.2 IP, 4 hits, 1 earned run, 0 walks, 4 strikeouts
Start Two | September 6: 5 IP, 3 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk, 6 strikeouts
These performances come on the heels of a pair of bad starts for Ziehl. On August 20, Ziehl went four innings, allowing three earned before giving up six earned in three innings on August 26. All in all, the 23-year-old has a 4.30 ERA in 29.1 innings with Worcester.
Ziehl is currently one step away from Major League Baseball and with MLB expanding its rosters to 28 players from 26 on September 1, the Penfield native could reasonably pitch for the Red Sox this year.
