The Mariners are promoting outfield/second base prospect Michael Arroyo from Triple-A Tacoma, Daniel Kremer of MLB.com reports. Arroyo is not on the Mariners’ 40-man roster, which is full, so they will have to make room for the 21-year-old.
This will be the third significant prospect promotion in the past couple of weeks for the Mariners, who brought up left-hander Kade Anderson on Aug. 20 and outfielder Lazaro Montes on Aug. 30. Like Anderson and Montes, Arroyo is widely considered a high-end prospect. Both MLB Pipeline (No. 56) and Keith Law of The Athletic place Arroyo among the game’s 60 best farmhands, though Baseball America omitted him from its latest top 100.
