Celebrity Traitors season 2 is intense, reveals Richard Osman – as season 1 star teases different emotion

The second season of Celebrity Traitors is on its way – and it sounds like it could be a rather different outing to the show's first hit season.

During a live edition of The Rest Is Entertainment podcast at London’s Southbank Centre on Saturday, hosts Richard Osman and Marina Hyde were joined by season 1 finalist Joe Marler.

Osman revealed that from speaking to some of those involved in the second season of Celebrity Traitors, it "was quite intense" to film.

Marler appeared to confirm the sentiment, adding (per The Guardian): "I believe it was a slightly different emotion than our experience. Ours was very laugh-led, and everyone was sort of enjoying catching up, you know, pratting about to the point where they went, ‘Guys we’re trying to play a game.’

"It’s not just for the laughs, ‘Oh do you remember going to that party darling?’ Whereas this lot really want it from the start. I guess they see how well the first series has gone and there’s a little bit of pressure on them to be like, ‘Oh I’d quite like a bit of that.’”

Marler and Osman's comments follow on from the BBC's director of entertainment Ed Havard, who previously teased on a panel at the Edinburgh TV Festival 2026: "Things happen that you didn't think could happen on Traitors and have never seen before."

The first season concluded its run with an incredible 15 million viewers, which saw the biggest on demand audience of any series across the market at seven days since records began.

So, while the second season has some pretty hefty boots to fill, anticipation for the new episodes are at an all-time high – especially with the help of a star-studded cast.

Joining presenter Claudia Winkleman in The Traitors castle this year are Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, James Acaster, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Maya Jama, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Myha’la, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E Grant, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft and Sharon Rooney.
