Pedestrian injured after police chase sparks multiple crashes in Rogers Park

A police chase involving a stolen vehicle led to multiple crashes on Friday evening in Rogers Park, including one that left a pedestrian injured.

Chicago police said at around 7:14 p.m., officers in the 7400 block of North Sheridan Road spotted a red Toyota that matched the description of a stolen vehicle. Officers tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver didn’t stop and struck a Chicago police vehicle, police said.

    A short time later, the driver struck a Volkswagen SUV. The crash caused the Volkswagen to go onto the curb and strike a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 24-year-old man, was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

    The driver and passenger of the Toyota were taken into custody, and charges were pending early Saturday, police said.

    Two Chicago police officers sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to an area hospital.
