Newly released court documents reveal horrifying details of how a 2-year-old boy was killed in a Frankfort home, where a neighbor found the mother attempting to harm herself inside.
Corie A. Walsh was found inside her home Tuesday afternoon as police said they discovered her 2-year-old child unresponsive. The child later died at an area hospital, and Walsh was transported for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Walsh, 40, was charged with three counts of first-degree murder and was taken into custody to be “held for medical treatment.”
In a petition seeking to keep Walsh from being released pretrial, prosecutors said police were called to the 22700 block of Brook Stone Court for a report of “an injured 2-year-old child.”
“When officers arrived, a neighbor was performing CPR on a toddler, later identified as two-year-old Barrett Walsh, born March 26, 2024,” the documents stated.

He had a ligature around his neck and his feet were off the ground, prosecutors said.
“She removed the ligature, lowered the child to the ground, and attempted CPR while calling 911. According to the neighbor, Barrett was cold and had no pulse,” the documents read.
The child was pronounced dead that same day and autopsy results found he died of “asphyxia due to ligature compression of the neck,” the documents show, though police said a final cause and manner of death were still pending.
According to court documents, Walsh told officers she “did this to her baby because he was the ‘devil’ and the ‘anti-Christ.'”
She later admitted at the hospital how she killed Barrett, officials said.
Police said Walsh’s admission aligned with what was discovered inside the home.
Citing witnesses, prosecutors said Walsh had “recently become very invested in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial,” which involved a mother killing her three children before trying to kill herself.
According to the court documents, Walsh “had been actively discussing the case via group text message with her friends” up until just hours before the tragic discovery was made inside her home.
While officers were at the home, they were “directed to an upstairs bathroom located in the master bedroom,” the documents state, “reportedly due to this defendant, the mother of the victim, attempting to harm herself.”
There, Walsh was found lying in a tub, “fully dressed, surrounded by bloody water,” prosecutors said.
The neighbor later told police Walsh asked why she was taking the knife. Walsh said she was trying to kill herself and that ‘Bear’ was in the basement, the neighbor told police.
Walsh’s attorney released the following statement on Friday evening:
“This is a tragedy, for the Walsh family all of whom are mourning the loss of this child. It is also a tragedy in that Corey herself was experiencing a psychotic episode at the time this happened. It is our hope that through a thorough presentation and investigation of the facts, that all of us will come to see this heartbreak for what it is.”
