The cast of smash-hit romantic drama Heated Rivalry is still growing, with Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich among the latest names confirmed for the show's second season.
The series proved a surprise hit for Canadian streaming platform Crave, catapulting lead actors Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie to overnight stardom as star-crossed athletes Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov.
Heated Rivalry found further success on HBO Max (in the US) and Sky/NOW (in the UK), with a second season set to revisit Shane and Ilya as they face the complexities of a long-term relationship.
Helping them on their rollercoaster journey is Ilya's therapist Dr Galina Molchalina, with action icon Jovovich being announced as a surprise choice for the role.
Best known for playing Alice in the six-film Resident Evil franchise, the Ukrainian-born actor has also taken roles in sci-fi classic The Fifth Element, Ben Stiller comedy Zoolander and Richard Linklater's Dazed and Confused.
In Rachel Reid's novel The Long Game, which season 2 will take inspiration from, Dr Molchalina is Russian and forms a connection with Ilya in part due to their shared culture and language.
Alongside Jovovich, Heated Rivalry has also cast Kevin Zegers (The Madison) as Brandon Wiebe, a coach for the Ottawa Centaurs ice hockey team, and Paul Gross (Alias Grace) as villainous National Hockey League commissioner Roger Crowell.
Heated Rivalry creator and head writer Jacob Tierney is returning to helm season 2, shepherding Reid's beloved stories and characters to the screen. Reid herself serves as consulting producer.

Young Royals alum Edvin Ryding, Schitt's Creek star Emily Hampshire and drag queen Priyanka are among the other notable names joining the buzzy series, which is due back on screens in spring 2027.
