His IPL numbers include 1,028 runs in 23 matches for Rajasthan Royals, with a highest score of 103, an average of 44.69 and a strike rate of 228.95. He has two centuries and six fifties in the competition.
The teenager's rise accelerated during IPL 2026, when he scored 776 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 237.30. He also became the youngest player to score a T20 century, hitting 103 off 37 balls against Gujarat Titans. His 72 sixes were another IPL season record.
Sooryavanshi then continued his progress in international cricket. He scored 151 runs in three T20Is against Zimbabwe as India completed a 3-0 series sweep and earned his maiden Player of the Series award. He also became the youngest player to score a Duleep Trophy fifty, making 92 off 81 balls for East Zone at 15 years and 157 days.

“So we look at Vaibhav in a very serious manner. He’s monitored from every angle and every step he is taking forward in his international career. The BCCI is taking a very close look at his future," he added.
The comments came after a high-level BCCI review meeting in Mumbai attended by Saikia, Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill, T20I captain Shreyas Iyer, head coach Gautam Gambhir and Centre of Excellence head VVS Laxman.

Saikia stressed that the BCCI does not want to rush Vaibhav Sooryavanshi simply because of his early success. The priority is to ensure that the teenager receives the right support and guidance as he moves into senior international cricket.
“We are very cautious that every right step he should take forward so that it should not be a one-series or one-year wonder," Saikia said.
“We are looking at all the players, not only Vaibhav’s relevance, but there are about 10–15 players who are in our targeted group. They are constantly monitored by our COE head, VVS Laxman, who is taking a keen interest in their future and their training and skill development," the BCCI secretary added.
