Junior Nationals qualifier Ali Sadri has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at George Washington University beginning in the fall of 2027. She publicized the news on Instagram, writing:
I am so excited and extremely blessed to finally announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the George Washington University! I would first like to thank Coach Ed from ABLY for his guidance and training, as well as Coach Betsy and Hanna from SUA, who have taught me valuable lessons. Next, I would like to thank my family, who have sacrificed hours to contribute to my success and for their endless support. I would also like to thank my teammates and friends for believing in me and inspiring me to keep moving forward. Finally, I would like to thank Coach Chico and the rest of the GW coaching staff for this opportunity and for welcoming me onto the team! RAISE HIGH!!

A rising senior at Saint Ursula Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio, Sadri has been a member of her school’s varsity swimming team since her freshman year. She also trains year-round with M.E. Lyons YMCA/Anderson Barracudas, where she primarily specializes in butterfly and sprint freestyle.
Sadri is coming off a 2025-26 season that saw her drop nearly three seconds in the 200 fly, almost two seconds in the 200 free, over a second in the 100 fly, and around half a second in both the 50 and 100 free. That improvement showed on the high school scene, where she helped Saint Ursula Academy take the runner-up spot in the 200 medley relay (24.87 fly split) and secure fourth in the 400 free relay (52.71 leadoff) at the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division I State Championships in February. She also finished fifth in the 100 fly (55.04), a current PB, and sixth in the 500 free (5:04.60).
Sadri’s top meet of the season was the YMCA National Short Course Championships at the end of March, where she placed fifth in the 200 fly (2:01.56), ninth in the 100 fly (55.09), 15th in the 200 free (1:52.29), and 25th in the 500 free (5:03.52), updating her PBs in the 200-yard events.
Beyond short course swimming, Sadri qualified and competed at Summer Junior Nationals (LCM) last month, placing 63rd in the 200 fly (2:21.71), 64th in the 100 fly (1:02.93), and 126th in the 50 fly (29.03). She registered PBs of 28.48, 1:02.34, and 2:19.02 earlier in the summer, advancing her to the meet.

100 Butterfly: 55.04 200 Butterfly: 2:01.56 50 Freestyle: 24.53 100 Freestyle: 52.27 200 Freestyle: 1:52.29A Division I Mid-Major program, George Washington competes in the Atlantic 10, with the women’s team placing second out of 10 teams at the 2026 conference meet. Sadri’s current lifetime best in the 200 fly would have placed her fifth in the ‘A’ final, while her times in the 100 fly and 200 free would have been fast enough to qualify for the ‘B’ finals. She’s also within range of the 23.50 and 51.46 needed to earn a second swim in the 50 and 100 free. With two full seasons of training still to go before she lines up at her first conference meet, she looks slated to make an immediate impact.
Sadri joins backstroker/butterflier Stella Mastroianni as the only publicized commits in George Washington’s class of 2031 so far.
