New York selected Ross to the 40-man near the end of last season. He joined the Mets, but did not appear in a game. Ross opened the 2026 campaign on the minor league injured list. He returned at the end of April and has put together a 6.25 ERA in 42 games across three levels.
The Mets drafted Ross in 2022, but he didn’t make his pro debut until 2024 due to multiple elbow surgeries. He only tossed an inning that year. The hard-throwing righty zoomed up the minor league ladder last season. Ross reached Triple-A in June after posting massive strikeout numbers at High-A and Double-A. He delivered a 1.69 ERA with a 30.7% strikeout rate across 32 appearances with Syracuse.
As is often the case with high-strikeout relievers yet to get a look in the majors, Ross has struggled with control. He ran a walk rate up near 15% last season. It’s climbed to 16.8% this year, including a 17.6% mark at Triple-A. Ross also allowed 1.49 homers per nine with Syracuse, which helps explain his lofty ERA.
Ross has averaged 96.9 mph on his four-seamer at Triple-A this year. He’s used it around 40% of the time. The righty has thrown his splitter at a 31.3% clip, followed by his slider at 27.3%. Both pitches sit in the upper-80s. It’s a well-rounded arsenal for a reliever. Ross has even tossed in the occasional curveball this season.
While Morabito has appeared in five games this year, he’s still searching for his first big-league hit. He went 0-for-11 with a hit-by-pitch in his brief stint with the Mets back in May. Contact was hard to come by for Morabito, as he struck out nine times in those 12 plate appearances. The outfielder was having a slightly below-league-average season at Triple-A, but he racked up 42 stolen bases. Morabito now has 101 thefts over the past two years in the minors.
