Louisiana underground metal band BRAT has announced its new album, Manslayer, a 17-track follow-up to the group’s 2024 debut Social Grace. The album is set for release on Sept. 25, 2026, through Prosthetic Records, with pre-orders now available.
The New Orleans-area “bimboviolence” band revealed the news through Evil Greed, describing Manslayer as a collection of “17 tracks of primitive death metal, garroting thrash, and swamp-drenched hardcore for devotees of the darkest reaches of the underground.”
The record continues BRAT’s mix of death metal, sludge, thrash and hardcore while taking the band’s sound and themes into a darker direction.

BRAT has also released “Trophy Hunting,” another song from the upcoming record, along with an official video directed by Coglan.
Manslayer follows Social Grace, which introduced BRAT’s self-described “bimboviolence” style to a wider audience. The new record is described as darker and more openly violent than the band’s earlier material.
Vocalist Liz Selfish said the group wanted to keep the campy side of BRAT while moving its music, imagery and live performances toward something darker.
“We’re evolving the bimboviolence and the campiness by making it all a little bit darker with this album, and a bit more overtly violent,” she said per Ghost Cult Mag. “I think that will probably reflect in our stage show and our imagery as well, keeping it fun, not a total 180, but definitely progressing into something darker with it.”
The record also marks an important change in BRAT’s songwriting process.
Guitarist and co-founder Brenner Moate handled the lyrics for Social Grace. For Manslayer, however, Selfish wrote the lyrics for the entire album.
She said the change began when she wrote the first song and discovered that she wanted to keep writing.
“It’s quite new territory for me, and it wasn’t necessarily an intentional thing initially. I wrote the first song for the album, and I just loved writing, and I was like, ‘I really love doing this, and I want to do more’, so I ended up writing the whole album. Brenner’s main focus is writing music – he wants to write riffs – so he wasn’t too torn up about not writing the lyrics. It was a nice passing of the torch.”
One of the unusual influences behind Manslayer comes from country music.
Selfish looked to songs about women taking revenge against men who wronged them, including The Chicks’ “Goodbye Earl,” Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats” and Miranda Lambert’s “Gunpowder & Lead.”
That idea helped shape “Manslayer (Hell Hath No Fury),” which takes inspiration from the familiar phrase about the fury of a woman scorned.
Selfish said the approach stood out to her because those kinds of stories are less common in death metal.
“There’s not a lot of those tropes in death metal, which I think primarily is because there’s not a lot of women in that space. I thought that was a really cool perspective and I really liked the storytelling aspect of it.”
Another song, “Trophy Hunting,” focuses on an older man seeking a young wife he can control. Selfish explained that the song and its video tell the story of what happens after the young wife reaches her limit.
According to Revolver, Manslayer was recorded at Bricktop Recording in Chicago. Andy Nelson of Weekend Nachos handled production, engineering and mixing, while Brad Boatright handled mastering. The album artwork was created by visual artist Wes Benscoter, whose work has also been associated with Mortician and Slayer.
The album also includes two guest appearances. David Davidson of Revocation appears on “Femicidal Vengeance,” while Candace Buckingham of Walls of Jericho contributes to “Blistered Tongues.”
