Prime Video has confirmed that the third and final season of Maxton Hall – The World Between Us will arrive sooner rather than later, closing out the year on an expected high for fans on Tuesday 9 December 2026.

The German-language romance has become the most successful international original series on Prime Video, but will draw to a close with this upcoming third season. Based on the novels by Mona Kasten – of which there are just three – all eyes will be on this final instalment to see just how closely the TV series sticks to its source material. The third novel, Save Us, forms the basis of this final season.

The streamer announced the date alongside a teaser poster for the six-episode run, which will launch globally in more than 240 countries and regions. A Prime Video Instagram post confirmed the news, stating: "Maxton Hall, the Final Season premieres December 9."

Harriet Herbig-Matten returns as Ruby Bell and Damian Hardung reprises his role as James Beaufort for the concluding chapter, but this third season is set to be another dramatic instalment, following on from the season 2's scandalous finale.

The synopsis for season 3 reads: "Ruby has been suspended from Maxton Hall College. Her dream of going to Oxford is slipping away, but she refuses to give up. Together with James, they fight to prove her innocence.

"The closer they get to the truth, the more it threatens to tear everything apart. Friendships are tested and secrets they never expected come to light. In the end, they must decide – is love enough?"

As fans of the show (and the book) will know, the second season ended with Maxton Hall's Principal discovering that one of his teachers, Graham Sutton, got Lydia pregnant.

Ruby is assumed to be the person that Sutton is having a romantic relationship with and was cruelly suspended, with her dreams hanging in the balance. So, it's safe to say that there's plenty to pick up with in the new third season.

The returning ensemble includes Sonja Weifer as Lydia, Eidin Jalali as Graham, Ben Felipe as Cyril, Fedja van Huet as Mortimer, Runa Greiner as Ember, Justus Riesner as Alistair, Govinda Gabriel as Kesh, Andrea Guo as Lin, Frederic Balonier as Kieran, Eli Riccardi as Elaine and Dagny Dewath as Ophelia.

Martin Schreier returns as director. Markus Brunnemann and Ceylan Yildirim serve as executive producers, with Yildirim writing the season alongside Sandra Stöckmann, Marlene Melchior, Catharina Junk and Aylin Kockler.
