OXNARD, Calif. (KEYT) – Oxnard Police arrested a 16-year-old for attempted murder after he shot a 19-year-old outside of a Five Guys at the 2700 block of Portico Way on Friday night around 8:30 p.m.
OPD officers took the shooting victim to the hospital in critical condition after being shot once. The victim is an employee at the restaurant who was on break inside the business when he got shot.
OPD officers determined the 19-year-old was not the intended shooting target after an altercation between the 16-year-old shooter and two other unidentified men.
Several agencies, including the OPD, then arrested the 16-year-old after obtaining a search warrant at his home in 500 block of East First Street.
The motive for the initial altercation and shooting are unknown at this time. Those with information on the shooting are asked to contact the OPD.
