DP moves to 1-1 on the season

    Girls High School Flag Football Ventura Tournament: Dos Pueblos 58, Fillmore 0

    Paige Ferro had a big day for the offense returning a punt for a touchdown and rushing for 2 more. Ruby Streatfeild also threw for two touchdowns connecting with Brooklyn Hedricks and Kinda Ahmad-Reda. Annabelle Gren threw a pass touchdown to CiCi Moccardini and Ava Taiji Al’s threw a touchdown to Hazel Burgess.

    Hedricks and Julie Brunner also had pick 6’s. Alma Basave and Malkonian also had interceptions.

    Dos Pueblos 18, Scripps Ranch 6: Ruby Streatfeild connected with Kinda Ahmad-Reda for two touchdowns and Hazel Burgess returned a punt for a touchdown.

    Makyla Watt had a sack to help the defense.

    Chargers went 2-0 in the tournament.

    Boys High School Water Polo Arroyo Grande Tournament: Dos Pueblos 13, East Clovis 10: Grant Nelson and Lucas Neushul led the scoring for DP with 4 and 3 goals respectively. Wyatt Warkentin played a great all around game with 2 assists, 4 drawn ejections, and a goal. Likewise, Skyler Carroll had 3 assists, two goals and 2 steals in the victory. Koa Zertuche finished with 7 blocks and an assist from the goal.

    Dos Pueblos 18, College Park 7: In the final game of the Arroyo Grande Tournament Dos Pueblos took a commanding lead in the first quarter and never looked back in the lopsided win. Lucas Neushul poured in 7 goals. Grant Nelson chimed in with 4 of his own. Adam Gelman and Wyatt Warkentin each had two while Skyler Carroll, Kevin Yan, and Max Gelman had a goal each. Tyler Racine filled in for an injured Koa Zertuche in goal and collected 15 saves. Bauer Ribbens also had a beautiful assist in second quarter to keep the offensive momentum going.

    DP went 4-0 in the tournament and is 5-2 overall.

    High School Girls Volleyball Del Sol Invitational: Bishop Diego claims second place: The Cardinals went 4-2 overall in the tournament with wins over Beacon Hill, Oxnard (twice), and Foothill Tech. They lost to Castaic twice including in the finals. Karina Urzua totaled 83 kills, 89 digs and 7 aces. Natalie Chan had 38 kills, 78 digs and 7 aces.

    Bishop Diego is 8-3 on the season.

    NCAA Women's Volleyball Arizona State Wildcat Classic: UCSB 3, Prairie View A&M 0: Gabi Martinez and Sophia Wendlick led the Gauchos offense, making 15 and 13 kills, respectively. Both hitters had incredible hitting ratios, with Martinez going .355 and Wendlick a remarkable .440 from just 25 attempts. Wendlick nearly picked up a double double, securing 9 digs as well.

    UCSB is 2-0 in the season-opening tournament.

    #8 Texas A&M 3, Cal Poly 0: The Mustangs (1-1) pushed the Aggies (3-2) to the limit in the first and third sets but could not overcome a dominant second frame from the home side, which hit .333 on the night to secure the sweep 24-26, 15-25, 23-25.

    Pin hitters Emma Fredrick and Kendall Beshear again recorded double-digit kills with 12 apiece. Fredrick committed just three errors to post a team-high .360 hitting percentage. Beshear, showcasing her trademark two-way game, added four digs and tied with Chloe Leluge for the team lead with four total blocks.

    Kayla Murdoch and Breklyn Pulling each contributed three blocks, while Elif Hurriyet collected a team-leading 13 digs, marking another double-digit performance for the junior libero.

    NCAA Men's Water Polo Triton Invitational: #4 Cal 14, #15 UCSB 9: Freshman Luigi Canepa was brilliant again for the Gauchos, scoring five goals and assisting three more against Cal, while fifth-year goalkeeper Wyatt Pieretti had a career game with 10 saves against the Golden Bears.

    #15 UCSB 19, Occidental 5: Finn Byrne pitched a shutout in his 16 minutes of action against the Tigers, while Charlie Johnson tallied a hat-trick to lead all scorers.

    UCSB is 3-1 in season-opening tournament.

    NCAA Men's College Soccer: Saint Martin's (Wash) 1, Westmont 0: The game’s only goal came in the 77th minute. The Saints' Corbin Herrera served a line drive to the center of the pitch. Johnathan Wright, about 20 yards out, did not let the ball touch the ground, blasting a one-touch shot into the upper right-hand crease.

    Westmont is 1-1.
