ROCHESTER, N.Y. — On Saturday, around 11:30 p.m., Rochester police went to the intersection of Portland Avenue and Norton Street for a reported crash involving two cars, leading to one of the drivers fleeing the scene before officers arrived, police say.
Police say the crash caused a utility pole to fall onto Portland Avenue, and that a 33-year-old woman was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation. She’s since been expected to be released, police added.
Crews worked on the utility pole, which caused Portland Avenue to close north of Norton Street, but police now report that the area has reopened.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call 911.
