A 16-year-old has died more than a week after he was shot in Chicago’s South Austin neighborhood.

According to police, the teen was standing with at least two other individuals in the 200 block of South Central Avenue on August 18 at approximately 9:29 p.m. when a person in a dark-colored sedan fired shots.

    One of the victims, a 16-year-old, was shot multiple times, and was hospitalized in critical condition, according to police.

    That teen, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Cortez Hall, was pronounced dead on Thursday.

    An 18-year-old was also shot in the right flank, and was listed in critical condition after the shooting, police said. A third victim, another 16-year-old, suffered a graze wound to their arm and declined medical attention at the scene.

    No suspects are in custody in connection with the shooting, and police are continuing to investigate.
