It would seem EastEnders fans could be set to say goodbye to a recent fan-favourite.

The Sun reports that Pierre Counihan-Moullier has quit his role as Oscar Branning, a role he took on in 2025 and was met with huge acclaim upon his arrival.

The publication claims that the actor, whose comedic antics have already made Oscar a firm favourite, is yet to film his final scenes with the BBC One soap, but that the door will remain open for Counihan-Moullier.

The BBC declined to comment when approached by Radio Times.

Fans are aware that Oscar will at least be on-screen into 2027 due to his role in the New Year's Day drama depicted back in January's flash-forward episode.

That episode ended with Oscar's philandering father Max Branning (Jake Wood) forced to choose between saving the lives of each of his two children being held at gunpoint: Oscar and his older sister, Lauren Beale (Jacqueline Jossa).

As the first of returning characters brought back by current executive producer Ben Wadey, Oscar blasted back onto our screens in 2025 and quickly brought chaos for his sister Lauren and some lovable dynamics with Ian "Brian" Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker), whom he also accidentally injured during a robbery.

Oscar was also reunited with his estranged father Max when he returned to Walford and has been rebuilding a relationship with him.

The mischievous teen's biggest storyline so far has been a love triangle caught between estranged twins, Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) and Josh Goodwin (Joshua Vaughan), the children of Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) and Dr Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey).

There are some big changes for the cast line-up at the minute, as the usual turnover of new arrivals, returns, and exits in soap life come about.

Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) is poised to exit in 2027 along with son Johnny (Charlie Suff), but fans can expect returns for Lee Carter (Danny Hatchard), Nancy Carter (Maddy Hill), and Janine Carter (Charlie Brooks) before she goes.

Meanwhile, it has also been reported that bad boy Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) is due to leave the soap, but it has been confirmed another bad boy is on the way back: Sean Slater (Rob Kazinsky), who is back full-time.

Elsewhere, Zoe Slater is set to depart the show in the coming weeks - how will this impact the Slaters alongside Sean's comeback?

Finally, a new family has rocked Walford in the form of the Hawkins clan, and also Denise's half-brother and niece, who arrived earlier this month.
