A portion of Main Street in East Dundee was closed following a crash that critically injured one person late Saturday morning, authorities said.
At around 11:41 a.m., firefighters with the East Dundee and Countryside fire protection districts responded to a motor vehicle collision near East Main Street and Commonwealth Drive. An SUV collided with a semi-truck, causing significant damage to the SUV and trapping one person inside.
That individual was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, authorities said.
A second person was released at the scene by paramedics.
A preliminary investigation revealed the crash occurred in a turn lane on eastbound Main Street.
The crash remains under investigation by the East Dundee Police Department.
