GREECE, N.Y. — The Town of Greece launched an improvement program to encourage private investment in commercial properties along Dewey Avenue.
The town is offering $10,000 matching grants to property or business owners in the Stone Road portion of Dewey Avenue. The money can be used to make facade improvements. The grants require a 50 percent applicant match and are awarded as a reimbursement.
The program aims to revitalize the Dewey Avenue corridor by helping businesses enhance their storefronts.
“Dewey Avenue is one of our most important and historic commercial corridors, and this program gives property and business owners a meaningful new tool to reinvest in their buildings,” said Greece Town Supervisor Jeff McCann. “By helping cover the cost of façade improvements, we’re making it easier for businesses to put their best face forward and help drive continued revitalization along Dewey Avenue.”
Eligible improvements include:
Exterior façade and storefront rehabilitation Window and door replacement or rehabilitation Exterior lighting improvements Signage improvements Permanent awnings and architectural features Other exterior building improvements that enhance the aesthetic appeal of the Dewey Avenue corridorEligible applicants must:
Own at least one qualifying commercial property in the program area. Have no outstanding property and/or building code violations. Up-to-date on property taxes. Have all required permits and approvals. Submit at least two itemized contractor bids, or proposed work cost estimates.Additionally, no work can begin until the applicant gets documented authorization from Greece.
