The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City alum Jen Shah officially completed her sentence following stints in prison and home confinement after pleading guilty to fraud charges.
“Today marks the official completion of my sentence and the closing of a chapter that changed my life and my family forever,” Shah, 52, told The Hollywood Reporter on Friday, August 28. “I made decisions that had serious consequences, and I accept those consequences.”
She continued, “I’ve had years to look honestly at my own choices — the people I trusted and allowed into my life, the red flags I ignored, the questions I should have asked, and the moments when I should have stopped and listened to my instincts. I can see those things today in a way I couldn’t then, and I take responsibility for the decisions that were mine.”
Page Six initially reported that Shah’s official home confinement release date was listed as Sunday, August 30, by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. However, since her release date falls on a weekend, BOP policy would allow her to be released on the last preceding weekday.

In July 2022, Shah pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud as part of a plea deal for allegedly defrauding elderly clients with a telemarketing scheme. While she was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison, the Real Housewives star was released from the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, to begin home confinement in December 2025 after serving less than three years of her sentence behind bars. (Shah served eight months of home confinement.)
“Moving forward doesn’t mean forgetting that real people were hurt or treating the consequences of this chapter lightly. I carry that awareness with me, and I always will,” Shah said in Friday’s statement. “But I’ve also learned that acknowledging your past doesn’t mean you have to live in it. I can’t change the chapters I’ve already lived, but I can decide what I do with what they taught me. Today, more than anything, I feel grateful, hopeful and genuinely excited about the future.”
Shah spoke out in her first post-jail interview in April, telling People that she was “sorry” for her past wrongdoing.
“I’m accepting responsibility, and I’ve made it my mission to make sure that people are paid back,” she vowed. “I understand that people have their opinions based on what they saw. But I would hope they would give me the grace to at least hear me and understand that I’m more than just the headline.”
However, Shah strenuously denied that she ever deliberately targeted elderly clients in the telemarketing scheme that led to her imprisonment.
“I would like to clear up this false narrative that I targeted the elderly,” she told People. “I never, ever targeted the elderly.”

So that became the soundbite. ‘Jen Shah targeted the elderly. She stole from the elderly.’ And that’s not true.”
In that same interview, Shah claimed that she never had any direct contact with her victims because of the structure of the telemarketing operation.
“The companies I worked for, it was a big deal to provide fulfillment. What happened was down the line, people that I worked with — my codefendant [Stuart Smith] — were working with a lot of other people,” she noted. “And so, once that initial fulfillment was happening, things were happening beyond the point of sale with that customer I didn’t know about.”
While Shah is now a free woman, Real Housewives executive producer Andy Cohen has ruled out bringing her back to RHOSLC on multiple occasions. Shah’s former costar Lisa Barlow told the “Therapuss” podcast in July that she wasn’t in favor of reuniting on camera either.
“I want her to be happy. I want her to be thriving. I want her to be with her children and her husband and her mother and everybody else,” Barlow, 51, added at the time. “I think that’s important. I think she’s really sorry. She did restitution and she’s paying for her mistake.”
Speaking about her future, Shah said on Friday, “I’m ready to work. I’m ready to create. I’m ready to laugh, have meaningful conversations, reconnect with people and build things I’m proud of. There are projects ahead that I’m incredibly excited about, and I’ll share more when the time is right.”
