Camila Perez is heading back into the Power universe. The Acapulco star is set to reprise her role as Young Angie Valdes in the upcoming Starz prequel Power: Origins, sources have told Deadline.
Perez played the character in a single episode of the original Power series, portraying the younger version of Angela Valdes, the torn federal prosecutor and James "Ghost" St Patrick's childhood sweetheart.
Of course, Lela Loren played the adult Angie across the mothership show, starring in the series from its first season until the start of the last.
So, while Perez may have only inhibited the character for one episode of Power, it would seem as though she's more of a natural fit for the role than anybody. And with Power: Origins likely giving her a much meatier role this time around, fans will undoubtedly be excited to see how she brings the divisive character to life.
Power: Origins comes from Sascha Penn and continues to explore the franchise by delving into the origin stories of fan favourites Ghost, Tommy and Kanan, following the trio as ambitious young entrepreneurs determined to make their mark on the streets of New York City.
Starz has described the series as "a fun, rambunctious exploration of a new time period in the Power franchise that will highlight the unbridled audacity of young men on the rise, determined to become legends in the game".
The prequel has already cast Spence Moore II as young Ghost, Charlie Mann as young Tommy Egan and MeKai Curtis as Kanan Stark, with Curtis reprising the role he made his own in Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

Production on the first season, which filmed in New York and New Jersey, has wrapped. Origins is the fourth spin-off in the Power universe, following Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan and Power Book IV: Force. A fifth spin-off, Power: Legacy, set after the events of Force, has also been greenlit at Starz.
The series is created by Courtney A Kemp and Penn, with Penn serving as showrunner and executive producer. Kemp, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and Mark Canton also executive produce, with Lionsgate Television producing for Starz.
Jackson has been busy expanding well beyond the Power world, and recently weighed in on whether his new boxing drama Fightland could ever feature any Power crossovers. A fifth spin-off, Power: Legacy, set in the present-day timeline after the events of Force, has also been greenlit at Starz.
