IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — Irondequoit Fire Chief Shane Metcalfe says two construction workers were hurt after a wooden structure collapsed on top of a parking garage at a condo.
It happened just after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Metcalfe says crews were dispatched to the Bay Village Condos on Bay Village Drive for a report of a building collapse with workers trapped. He says on the way to the scene, crews learned two workers who were hurt and were able to get out.
After getting there, Metcalfe says they found the wooden structure collapsed on a two-level parking garage. Metcalfe says one of the workers was treated on scene. He says the other worker was brought to Rochester General Hospital with traumatic injuries.
Metcalfe says there were no other structural concerns or any other injuries. He says the construction was part of a multi-year project at the condo. He added work will continue once it is cleared by the Town of Irondequoit.
