The India National Cricket Team is currently playing Sri Lanka at Colombo in the second Test match. Yashasvi Jaiswal is a part of the team and has been in the headlines for the wrong reasons after an altercation with Asitha Fernando in the match. Amidst this, there are rumours of him being involved in a trade deal for Hardik Pandya.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has been a part of Rajasthan Royals (RR) since 2019. The young Mumbai-based batter was picked by the Royals in the 2019 auction for INR 2.40 crore, and since then he has been an integral part of the franchise, grown and developed over the years, and made his debut for India across formats.
As per the reports from RevSportz, it is believed that Jaiswal is a part of a trade deal with the Mumbai Indians which will also involve Hardik Pandya. However, in response to it, sources from the RR management have dismissed the claims as they revealed that he has not informed the franchise about the possibility of leaving.
“He (Jaiswal) hasn't told us anything (about leaving the franchise),” a top Royals functionary told RevSportz. “We are planning things for the next season with him firmly on our roster. We have heard some rumours, but from our side, Jaiswal is very much our player.”
Yashasvi Jaiswal's IPL career
Since joining the franchise, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been amazing; he has achieved several milestones while playing for the franchise. In his second year after making his debut for the franchise scored 249 runs in 10 matches he featured for the side with an average of nearly 25 and a strike rate over 140. In total, Jaiswal has scored 2593 runs in 83 matches for the franchise.
A young Jaiswal won the Emerging Player of the Season award in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. He achieved the record by scoring 625 runs in 14 matches, which included his maiden IPL century and the fastest-ever half-century in IPL history (off 13 balls), which was later matched by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Urvil Patel.
Will Yashasvi Jaiswal leave RR?
After Sanju Samson left the franchise, it was rumoured that Jaiswal was one of the contenders for becoming the captain of the side. However, he was not handed the leadership role last season, with Riyan Parag taking on the responsibility. But he stepped in as a temporary stand-in captain during an IPL 2026 match against the Gujarat Titans because Parag had a hamstring injury.
Yashasvi, who is a young prospect for a leadership role, might not be able to lead the side with Riyan Parag in the squad. That is the reason there were rumours of him possibly leaving the franchise.
Now, with his focus on international cricket, he would like to keep the rumours aside and do well for the Men in Blue, as he has got starts in both Test matches but has failed to convert it to a big score. Jaiswal scored 45 in the first innings against the Lankan Lions and is currently fielding for the side.
