Amelia Dimoldenberg has revealed that she is developing a young adult drama for the BBC and has described the project as her "version of Skins".
The Chicken Shop Date creator confirmed her scripted ambitions during an interview at the Edinburgh TV Festival on Tuesday 25 August 2026, where she appeared in conversation with Manori Ravindran of The Ankler.
According to Deadline, Dimoldenberg said she is writing the series herself and hopes to offer a successor to the defining Channel 4 drama but for a Gen Z audience.
The original Skins, which ran from 2007, launched the careers of Nicholas Hoult, Jack O'Connell, Dev Patel, Kaya Scodelario, and was an early role for Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya.
The BBC has not officially greenlit Dimoldenberg's series.
Dimoldenberg said the development process had been long, but that she would "will it into existence", just as she did with Chicken Shop Date and her upcoming feature film.
Radio Times has reached out to the BBC for comment on this story.
Dimoldenberg's upcoming film is a romantic comedy she is set to star in and produce for Amazon MGM Studios's Orion Pictures, alongside Gloria Sanchez Productions and writer Sarah Heyward.
In a rather meta premise, she plays a by-the-book journalist whose carefully planned life unravels when a routine celebrity interview unexpectedly turns into a romance... sound familiar?
Chicken Shop Date, the deadpan YouTube interview series in which Dimoldenberg quizzes stars over fried chicken, has grown into a viral phenomenon and a fixture of the celebrity publicity circuit.
Amelia Dimoldenberg's new drama is coming soon.
