Apple TV has released a trailer for Brothers, the comedy series starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as fictionalised versions of themselves whose longtime friendship is upended by a startling revelation: they might be related.
After Woody's daughter's engagement collapses, he loads up the family and heads to Austin for an extended stay at Matthew's ranch. What starts as a healing getaway quickly unravels when Matthew's mother, Ma Mac (Holland Taylor), accidentally lets slip the long-buried secret.
As Woody turns the ranch upside down chasing the truth, Matthew wrestles with an identity crisis of his own: a potential run for Governor of Texas. Apple describes it as a heartfelt, chaotic and wildly funny story about friendship, family, fame, and the messy line between myth and reality.
The eight-episode series premieres on Apple TV on Wednesday 23 September, with the first two episodes arriving together before weekly instalments run through to 4 November 2026. Around the time of that project, McConaughey also won an Academy Award for his powerful turn in Dallas Buyers Club, which is an accolade that has thus far eluded Harrelson (a three-time nominee for The People vs Larry Flynt, The Messenger and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri).
Clearly not sour about his close calls, the trailer includes an amusing gag in which McConaughey playfully taunts his former co-star in a manner reminiscent of a sibling rivalry.
Holland Taylor, known for Two and a Half Men and The Practice, leads a supporting cast that also includes Natalie Martinez, Brittany Ishibashi, Nolan Almeida, Ella Grace Helton, Noah Carganilla, Highdee Kuan and Oona Yaffe.
Brothers is executive produced by Lee Eisenberg, the multi-Emmy nominee and Peabody winner behind Little America and Jury Duty.
