Superhero drama Supacell became a huge hit with viewers when it first debuted, and since then fans have had an achingly long wait for news on new episodes.
We've known for some time that season 2 is on the way, but more than two years on, we are still yet to learn the release date.
Unfortunately, we still don't have any news on that front, but we have now just got a big new update, as Netflix has confirmed that production on season 2 has now wrapped.
Hopefully this means we should have release news sooner rather than later for the second season of Rapman's drama, which stars Tosin Cole, Nadine Mills, Eric Kofi Abrefa, Calvin Demba, Josh Tedeku, Giacomo Mancini and Siân Brooke.
Back in May 2025, creator and director Rapman teased what fans can expect from the new episodes, telling Radio Times: "It gets dark, that's all I can say! It gets really, really dark. If you followed season one and you saw how things ended, the emotions are just... everything's running higher now."
For some time now, Rapman has made clear that he doesn't just want the show to get its upcoming second season, but he has always intended for it to run for three.
He said, back when season 1 debuted: "I told them [Netflix] that I want three seasons. I suppose we have to see how season 1 performs. But I know I've very much made clear that I want to do three seasons minimum."
He added: "I've got a three-season story in my head. [I'm] not saying it can't go over. But right now I know where it goes to. I know where... what the story is from up to season 3."
Supacell follows a group of five ordinary people who unexpectedly develop superpowers. They have little in common, except for one thing: they are all Black South Londoners that carry the Sickle Cell trait.
