Almost a full year after its first season debuted, and following months of rumours and reports, it has now been officially confirmed that a second season of House of Guinness is on the way.
The Dublin-based 19th-century series will once again be written by Steven Knight, and it has been said to see the Guinness family continuing to "wrestle with ambition, intrigue and forbidden love".
Knight said in a statement: "It was such a joy to bring the Guinness story to the screen, so I'm beyond thrilled to be continuing the story of one of the world's greatest dynasties into season two. I can't wait to dive deeper into these characters and their complex relationships as they expand the Guinness empire."
Sadly for fans who have been getting impatient, there is still likely to be a substantial wait until we get new episodes.
Production is due to begin in early 2027, meaning we're unlikely to see season 2 until late 2027 at the earliest – more likely 2028.
Those who are currently set to reprise their roles in season 2 include main cast members Anthony Boyle, Louis Partridge, Emily Fairn, Fionn O'Shea, James Norton, Jack Gleeson, Niamh McCormack, Danielle Galligan and Ann Skelly.
Earlier this year, Knight told Radio Times that he was "really, really pleased" by the reaction to the series, and in particular was pleased on the behalf of the "fantastic cast".
"To see the response was wonderful. I mean, across the globe. So really pleased with that. And… yeah."
Knight then cut himself off, after which he was asked whether there was any update on the future of the series and a potential season 2.
At the time he said: "I was just gonna say, I was about to continue then, but I'm not," Knight said. "I can't speak about that."
House of Guinness season 2 can now officially be counted among the number of projects keeping Knight busy. He also has in the works two new seasons of Peaky Blinders, a third season of SAS Rogue Heroes and the small matter of the next James Bond film.
House of Guinness is available to stream on Netflix now – sign up from £5.99 a month. Netflix is also available on Sky Glass and Virgin Media Stream.
