Emmerdale kickstarts dramatic wedding week with Graham Foster attack in early ITVX release

You’ve got to get up early in the morning to beat Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) in Emmerdale. Unfortunately, this is Dawn Fletcher's (Olivia Bromley) wedding day... and she’s far too terrified to sleep.

Her upcoming marriage to the dark lord of Home Farm Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) is soured by the creeping suspicion that he'd attacked and hospitalised her ex-husband Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle). She’s marrying a monster... and carrying his unborn baby.

Ironically, out of all the diabolical things Joe has ever done, attacking Billy was not one of them. But Caleb and Ruby Milligan (William Ash and Beth Cordingly) want revenge on Joe, so it’s in their interest to make Dawn believe her hubby-to-be was responsible.

Their goal? Humiliation for the terrible Tate, jilted by his bride. That’s why they’ve supported Dawn and Billy's desire to flee to Spain with the kids, supplying them with fake passports.

However, as the wedding draws nearer, Dawn is that Joe is truly evil. Billy is hiding the truth about his real attacker from Dawn, even though Kev Barton (Chris Coghill) drunkenly confessed to the crime.

Billy's motives to escape with his ex aren’t entirely pure, ever since their almost-kiss. He wants them to flee Emmerdale as soon as possible, but Caleb and Ruby won’t let them leave until Joe’s standing alone at the altar.

Today’s episode was the morning of the wedding, and Graham hid his worry from Joe and assured him nothing will go wrong.

Meanwhile, Kim Tate’s (Claire King) kindness only made Dawn feel more guilty, so she fled outside. Elsewhere, Graham’s careful questioning caused Lucas to blab about the escape plan.

Outside the Home Farm Stables, Dawn was a rabbit in headlights when Graham caught her packing suitcases into the car and making an incriminating call to Billy.

Horrified, Graham tried to talk Dawn out of jilting Joe and questioned how Billy could have seen Joe attack him from behind. When he took her car keys in desperation, Dawn knocked the butler out with a shovel. Graham regained consciousness in the stable, tied up and powerless.

Meanwhile, Caleb gleefully anticipated Joe’s jilting as he pays Billy off. But when Joe lorded it over everyone in the Woolpack and bought everyone a round to toast to ‘happy endings’, Caleb couldn’t control his anger despite Ruby’s pleas.

He drops his truth bomb then and there by gloating to an unnerved Joe that he’s just destroyed his entire life...
