The eighth and final episode of The Westies season 1 is set to debut tomorrow, and stars JK Simmons and Tom Brittney have teased that it's the one they're most looking forward to fans seeing.
Speaking exclusively with Radio Times ahead of the series debuting, the duo were asked which episode or moment from across the first season they were most anticipating viewers getting to see, to which Brittney said: "Episode eight. I’d say the last episode of the season, really."
Simmons concurred, adding: "Yeah, I mean, they did a great job in the writing of getting to this climactic ending to the first eight episodes, but leaving doors open for where do we go from here. But yeah, it all does really begin to feel like a freight train really running downhill into this, will it be a train wreck? How does the first season end?"
Simmons and Brittney then opened up about the potential for a second season of the MGM+ crime drama, with Brittney saying that they have both "tried to pitch storylines" to showrunners Chris Brancato and Michael Panes.
"'So, for my character for next season, which we’ll definitely do, right?' But you pitched a quite solid one, I think," Brittney said, referring to Simmons.

"We all have some lovely ideas that we talked about off and on during the first season, you know. 'Hey, maybe this guy could…' you know.
"But at the end of the day, we'll make our pitches."
"We’ll make our pitches," Brittney concurred, before Simmons added: "And we'll hope that the Chris and Michael find room."
In the crime drama, which centres around the real life Irish gang which operated in New York City in the 1980s, Simmons plays gang leader Eamon Sweeney, while Brittney plays his second in command, Jimmy Roarke.
The Westies is available to stream exclusively on MGM+ in the UK.
