Pittsford woman pleads guilty to charges related to stolen cooking oil scheme

PITTSFORD, N.Y. — A 41-year-old Pittsford woman has pleaded guilty to her role in a stolen cooking oil scheme.

Fangfang Yan, also of Shanxi, China, pleaded guilty to misprision of a felony, which carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison, and a fine of $250,000.

Federal prosecutors say in April 2022, Guodeng Chen and Didi Huang shipped 45,000 pounds of stolen, used cooking oil from Western New York to a refinery in Pennsylvania. Prosecutors say the two got over $29,000 for the shipment.

During that same time, the two shipped another 45,000 pounds of cooking oil to the same refinery, getting over $30,600 for this shipment.

According to prosecutors, Yan knew this was happening, but didn’t tell authorities.

Yan’s sentencing is scheduled for December.
