10+ nations slam Israel over Syrian base strike

Foreignministers from 12 countries on Friday condemned an Israeli strike on Syria'sAbu al-Duhur military air base, warning that the attack could deepen regionaltensions and undermine efforts to stabilize the country.

    In ajoint statement, the foreign ministers of Turkiye, Algeria, Indonesia, Jordan,Lebanon, Malaysia, Mauritania, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia andSomalia described the strike as a violation of Syria's sovereignty andterritorial integrity.

    Theministers also urged the international community to take practical steps underinternational law to prevent further violations and ensure respect for the 1974Disengagement of Forces Agreement between Syria and Israel.

    Israeliaircraft struck the Abu al-Duhur air base in Idlib province in northwesternSyria early Tuesday, hitting the runway and storage areas.
