On Friday morning, the Tenth Circuit granted the NCAA’s stay request in Wisne vs. the NCAA, effectively removing a blanket waiver for all class of 2022 athletes to be eligible for the upcoming year.
That decision is expected to be met with an appeal, but for now, 5th-year seniors who exhausted their college eligibility in 2025-26 no longer have protection at the federal level.

On the other side of the coin, Louisville commit Seth Trimble is not currently party to any state-level lawsuits and therefore is currently ineligible to play for the Cardinals this upcoming season.
There remains no timetable for a consistent eligibility ruling even as college football season is set to begin in a matter of days.
