PERINTON, N.Y. — State and local leaders gathered in Perinton Thursday to mark the completion of a major renovation at Evergreen East.
The complex was formerly known as the Pines of Perinton. The $86 million project led by WinnCompanies modernized more than 500 apartment homes at the complex.
“We understood that this had such potential to come back to what it originally was, mixed income community of the highest quality for families in a great school district,” said Gilbert J. Winn, CEO of WinnCompanies. “We knew we could bring it back to that. We’ve done that all over the country, and it only took about 12 years, but we got it done.”
Upgrades include new plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems. All units are now designated as low-income housing tax credit apartments. They’re affordable to households earning at or below 80% of the Area Median Income.
