Robert Aaron Suttles, the former director of content for Yea Alabama, the University’s NIL entity, is back in jail after a judge revoked his bond.
Suttles was originally arrested July 23 on the charge of soliciting a prostitute. His arrest was part of a human trafficking operation conducted by the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force.
His bond was set at $1,000, which was met and saw his release.
Suttles was arrested for a DUI by the Homewood Police Department on July 25, according to AL.com.
According to court documents, Shelby County prosecutors filed a motion to revoke Suttles’ bond Aug. 13, as one of the conditions of his bond was to not commit another crime. The motion was granted by a judge Tuesday.
Suttles turned himself in to the Shelby County Jail Thursday. Suttles’ attorneys have filed a motion to have his bond reinstated, but no future hearings have been set at the time of publication.
After graduating from the University in 2009, Suttles was a journalist with the Tuscaloosa News as recently as 2018, before covering Alabama and the SEC for The Athletic. Suttles returned to Tuscaloosa to join the NIL collective in 2023.
All mentions of Suttles have been removed from the Yea Alabama website, including his staff bio and his name on bylines from articles he has written.
“The individual is suspended and is not performing any work for us. The matter involves personal conduct unconnected to any Yea Alabama business,” said a Yea Alabama spokesperson to AL.com. “A legal proceeding is pending and our internal review is ongoing, so we have no further comment.”
