Premier League 2025/26 predictions: Winners, dark horses, top scorer and best player

A new Premier League arrives and is set to dominate our weekends from August through until May.

It's been a summer of change across the top flight, with a record number of new managers and the usual flurry of transfers, and the new campaign is a fresh start for all 20 teams.

Defending champions Arsenal are one of the sides hoping for more of the same as they look to follow up last season's long-awaited title triumph.

But who will win it this term? Who will go down? And what's going to happen in between? Let's take a look...

Radio Times offers our final predictions ahead of the Premier League 2026/27 season.

    Premier League 2026/27 predictions

    Winners

    Arsenal

There are question marks over all of the top teams bar one. Arsenal were the best team in the Premier League last season and have only gotten stronger over the summer window.

Continuity will be key for Mikel Arteta's side and the Community Shield showed they're heading into the new season full of confidence.

William Saliba's absence is the only real concern but you'd back 2025/26's best defence to make do without him.

    Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd

No European football will be a real blessing for Chelsea and new boss Xabi Alonso. The Blues have made some smart additions to a squad packed with talent and the front three of João Pedro, Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer will be fun to watch.

Adapting to life without Pep Guardiola and Rodri is likely to rule Man City out of the title race but there is too much quality in their ranks for them to drop too low. Enzo Maresca's system should suit Erling Haaland, Antoine Semenyo and Jeremy Doku.

Liverpool will take a while to get going under Andoni Iraola but Man Utd can pick up where they left off. Though their squad still lacks a little bit of depth, which will be a problem with Champions League games to play, Michael Carrick has brought the confidence back at the Red Devils.

    Dark horses

    Leeds, Tottenham

Leeds were better than their final points tally suggested last term and have done some impressive business in the transfer window.

With potential for some of last season's disruptors – the likes of Sunderland, Bournemouth, and Fulham – to falter, the Whites could push up the table.

Tottenham have done some fantastic business this summer and, in Roberto De Zerbi's first full season, I fancy them to be back amongst the European spots this term, which is a significant jump given their recent struggles.

    Fulham, Coventry, Hull City

Ipswich have splashed the cash over the summer and might just avoid the drop but the pair promoted alongside them last term, Coventry and Hull City, may just find the step up in quality too much to deal with.

I've got concerns about Fulham, who have turned to Álvaro Arbeloa to replace Marco Silva and will really miss Harry Wilson.

    Player of the Season

    Cole Palmer

The man will have a point to prove. Cole Palmer will be raring to go after missing out on the England World Cup squad and could thrive under Alonso.

No European football should help him get back to his best. Expect him to pile on the goals and assists – and finish as the player of the season.

    Top goalscorer

    Erling Haaland

Haaland is the best striker in the Premier League and Maresca's system, with high wide forwards, should suit the Man City marksman.

Chelsea's Joao Pedro could push him close but, barring a significant injury, it's hard to see anyone catching him and it looks likely to be a record-equalling fourth Golden Boot for the goal machine this term.
