A new Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers location will open in Tuscaloosa Aug. 24, located on McFarland Blvd off of 13th St.
The corner was previously a small shopping center that included a Wing Zone and a Made in Mexico restaurant, with the latter having since relocated nearby on McFarland Blvd.
Rumors of another Raising Cane’s coming to Tuscaloosa first started after a billboard popped up on McFarland Blvd. last October advertising the restaurant.
“Tuscaloosa has an incredible sense of community, and we’re excited to deepen our presence here,” said Anthony Petro, Raising Cane’s area leader of restaurants. “For more than a decade, we’ve been fortunate to serve this city through our campus restaurant, and we’re excited to continue growing alongside the community.”
The new location will be open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight.
Opening day festivities will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, with customers 13 and older eligible for a “Lucky 20” drawing, with the winners getting free Cane’s for a year. There will also be a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama and other community members, with Big Al appearing alongside a DJ.
The first 100 customers will receive a free box combo card and a Cane’s branded hat upon opening. The franchise also plans to donate $2,000 to the West Alabama Food Bank.
The restaurant is opening as part of a seven-location nationwide expansion for the company’s 30th anniversary. Other new locations opened in Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, California and New Jersey.
Previously, the only Raising Cane’s location in Tuscaloosa was on campus, inside Paty Hall.
“We look forward to building lasting relationships, supporting local organizations, creating new jobs, and becoming a place where friends, families and students can gather for years to come,” Petro said.
