VICTOR, N.Y. — A 27-year-old man is facing charges after State Police say he had drugs and pretended to be his brother during a traffic stop.
State Police say on Aug. 11 at around 2 a.m., troopers stopped a Nissan Rogue for vehicle and traffic violations on I-490 near the I-90 ramp in Victor.
During the traffic stop, troopers say they saw indicators of possible drug use and drug paraphernalia inside the car. After searching the car, troopers say they found about four grams of suspected crack cocaine, additional suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
According to State Police, the suspected crack cocaine field-tested positive for cocaine. The driver, who State Police say initially identified himself as Reece Hartman, was taken into custody.
During the investigation, State Police say they learned the suspect gave his brother’s identifying information, and was actually Cayne Hartman.
Over the weekend, State Police found Cayne at a home in Geneva and took him into custody and was reprocessed under his correct identity.
Cayne is charged with the following:
• Criminal possession of a controlled substance • Offering a false instrument for filing • Criminal possession of a controlled substance• Criminal impersonation
He was brought to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
