For the second time Monday, a flight arriving at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport blew a tire on landing, mere hours after the first incident.
According to Air Traffic Control at the airport, an arriving United Airlines flight from Omaha blew a tire as it exited the runaway at the airport on Monday afternoon.
There were no immediate reports of injuries in connection to the incident.
According to Air Traffic Control, there were 127 passengers on the United flight. Those passengers will be bussed back to the terminal after they deplane on the tarmac, according to ATC.
That incident occurred mere hours after another flight, an American Airlines flight inbound from New York’s LaGuardia Airport, blew multiple tires in its landing gear as it arrived at the airport.
According to Air Traffic Control, the incidents occurred in different parts of the airport.
Chicago firefighters did not see any fire or smoke following the American Airlines flight’s landing at the airport, and passengers were taken back to the terminal via a bus from the tarmac according to airline officials.
There were no injuries reported among the 180 passengers onboard.
“We thank our team members for their professionalism and we apologize to our customers for their experience,” the company said.
The FAA confirmed it will investigate the incident involving the American Airlines flight.
