The founding singer of The Go-Go’s is celebrating her 68th birthday.
Belinda Carlisle shared a throwback baby photo on Instagram on August 17, 2026, and captioned the pic, “Another trip around the Sun…” Her birthday post was flooded with well-wishes, including from one of her bandmates.
“Happy birthday !!! Hope this trip round is filled with good health, adventures, love and peace,” The Go-Go’s bass player Kathy Valentine wrote. Sandra Bernhard, Lisa Loeb, and Maria McKee also wished the brunette beauty a happy birthday.
Carlisle was a founding member and lead singer of The Go-Go’s, along with Valentine, Charlotte Caffey (guitar and keyboard), Gina Schock (drums), and Jane Wiedlin (rhythmic guitar).
The group was formed in 1978 in Los Angeles and was originally called The Misfits. The Go-Go’s went on to top the charts in the late ’70s and early ’80s with hits such as “We Got the Beat,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” and “Vacation.”

Today, Carlisle is looking better than ever and living in Mexico City with her husband, Morgan Mason. The couple moved to Mexico after spending the pandemic in Thailand.
“We were planning to go live at the beach, like in Puerto Vallarta or something like that. Then my goddaughter said, ‘You’re crazy. Mexico City is where it’s at.’ … So we came here, not knowing what to expect at all … and we fell in love with it,” she told Riff in 2023. “Here we are, and it’s almost two years. It ticks all the boxes. We love it, and it’s close to California, if I ever need to see family or friends and go to work.”
