Barbara Eden is best known for her role on I Dream of Jeannie, but the actress also played Elvis Presley’s love interest in the 1960 movie Flaming Star. Off-camera, she found herself giving the King of Rock ‘n Roll relationship advice.
In an August 2026 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Eden, 94, revealed that Presley was fascinated by her then-marriage to Michael Ansara, the Broken Arrow star who would go on to play Commander Kang in Star Trek: The Original Series. Eden and Ansara had been married for two years.
Eden recalled that Presley often questioned her about her relationship.
“He asked me a lot about my marriage with Michael and how we did it, being in the industry, both of us,” Eden shared.
“I said, ‘Look, this is our job. This is how we make a living … It is a job, acting,’” she continued. “And you work on it. I don’t know how many years or how many people do this, but you learn to do things you probably never do in real life.”

Eden previously recalled that Presley told her he was interested in a young woman he had met in Germany and was worried about bringing her to the United States. The “Hound Dog” singer asked Eden how her marriage survived in Hollywood.
“I told him, ‘This is our work,’” Eden recalled to Fox News Digital. “’He goes on location, I go on location. But we’re always together. This is how we make money, but we are a team. And as long as the two of you are a team, it will work out.’ But Elvis was worried.”
During a 2022 panel discussion, Eden also gave details about the conversation. According to People magazine, she recalled that Presley told her, “I met this girl in Germany” and that he wasn’t sure what to do because she was “awfully young.”
Eden clarified that she had no idea how young the girl, Priscilla Beaulieu, was at the time but that she later met her and liked her.
In 1967, Presley, 32, married Priscilla, then 21, and they welcomed their only child, Lisa Marie, the following year.
In the new interview, Eden also remembered Presley fondly as a professional, praising his “wonderful” work ethic and manners on set.
“He was doing his job, as was I, but he did it well,” Eden told EW. “He played the part beautifully, always there on time [on] the set …I just loved him. He was a really, really good actor.”
