ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Bills wrapped up their first game of the 2026 preseason with a win in the new Highmark Stadium.
Buffalo beat their opponent, the Carolina Panthers, 29-14 in what marked the official opening of the new stadium. News10NBC Sports Reporter Mat Mlodzinski was there for the game.
The ribbon-cutting for the stadium happened two months ago, but this was the first game ever played at the new Highmark Stadium. Both starters and bench players looking to make the roster had strong performances.
The game was also a milestone for Joe Brady, who coached his first game as head coach. Brady is still adjusting to being on the field instead of up in the booth.
“I’m still figuring out exactly where I want to stand and all that, but I, you know, felt like our tempo in and out of the huddle, our communication on the sidelines — I didn’t feel like there was ever a play where I was like, ‘oh, what do I want to call right here?’ Like It didn’t feel like it was any different from the box,” Brady explained.
“I mean, he’s always been tuned in, obviously. He’s been up in the booth, so to have one on the sideline is different, to have a communication and look him in the eye, and understand what he’s doing and why he’s doing it. Now, you can’t have too much time with him because he’s got to be paying attention to what’s going on in the game,” Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen said.
Fans experienced gameday at the new stadium for the first time. The new concessions received approval from Bills Mafia.
Buffalo will kick off the official 2026-27 season away against the Houston Texans on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. To view the Bills’ full schedule, click here.
