According to the city’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, the start of the Air and Water Show’s Sunday programming will be delayed until noon as low-lying clouds continue to impact the area.
As a result of that delay, the show will run through at least 5 p.m. according to DCASE officials.
It was also announced that Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson will be in attendance along the lakefront when the show gets underway.
The Air and Water Show was impacted by rain and clouds on Saturday, with the programming delayed for several hours because of the conditions. Slowly clearing skies eventually did allow for the show to begin, but weather had also impacted practice for pilots on Friday.
This year’s show is highlighted by performances from the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team, with numerous military and civilian aircraft also participating.
The show is free and open to the public, with viewing areas established along the shores of Lake Michigan, primarily near North Avenue Beach and along the lakefront between Fullerton Avenue and Oak Street.
