Report: Positive case of measles in Seneca County

SENECA COUNTY, N.Y. — The Seneca County Health Department has reported that the New York State Department of Health (DOH) confirmed a case of measles in an unvaccinated resident who recently traveled from Pennsylvania. The infected person is currently in Seneca County.

The resident was taken to Cayuga Medical Center on Thursday, and samples were collected by the DOH for testing, according to the health department. The victim has been discharged to isolate and recover at home, and the health department says it’s in contact with the DOH as the investigation continues.

    As of Friday, there are about 15 confirmed measles cases outside of New York City in the state.

    People are asked to contact their doctor and stay home if signs and symptoms of measles are present.
