The End of Oak Streets Rotten Tomatoes is officially in following first wave of reviews

As Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor's sci-fi survival film The End of Oak Street arrives in cinemas, the first wave of reviews is in, meaning the movie's initial Rotten Tomatoes score has been unveiled.

With 152 reviews in at the time of writing, the film has a Tomatometer score of 86 per cent, meaning 86 per cent of critics gave the film a review skewing positive, and 14 per cent skewed negative. The average of rated reviews currently sits at 7.2 out of 10.

Meanwhile, the current audience score, assessed by the Popcornmeter, is currently somewhat lower, with 72 per cent and an average rating of 3.8 out of 5.

Radio Times's own review gave a positive assessment of the film, with a four star rating. The review from Rosie Fletcher calls the film "a loving homage to Steven Spielberg," one which "less rips off Jurassic Park, ET and Jaws and more relies on audiences' love for those films and the nostalgia they are imbued with to bring a fresh take to the ‘Spielburbia’ sub-genre".

The synopsis for The End of Oak Street, which also stars Maisy Stella and Christian Convery, says: "After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighbourhood to someplace unknown, the Platt family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognisable surroundings."

The film, which is produced by JJ Abrams, comes from director David Robert Mitchell, who has previously been behind the hit horror movie It Follows and comedy thriller Under the Silver Lake.

It forms part of a big year for Hathaway, who has already in 2026 starred in Mother Mary, The Devil Wears Prada 2 and The Odyssey.

All four of her films released thus far have a fresh score (60 per cent or above) on Rotten Tomatoes.

Beyond this, she still has one more film appearance on the calendar, with her thriller film Verity, an adaptation of the bestselling novel by author Colleen Hoover, set to arrive in cinemas on Friday 2 October.

The End of Oak Street is in cinemas now.
