A Las Vegas hotel is facing some eyebrow-raising accusations from travelers who say what they booked online wasn’t what they found when they arrived.
Las Vegas content creator Jennifer Gay (@vegasstarfish) is warning travelers about listings for Palette Las Vegas and Collection O Las Vegas that appear to be connected to OYO Hotel & Casino Las Vegas.
Gay shared the experience of traveler Ariana Patiño, who said she intentionally wanted to avoid OYO while planning a trip for a concert. Instead, she booked Palette after finding what appeared to be an affordable new hotel near the Strip, complete with polished photos.

♬ Suspense, horror, piano and music box – takayaBut when Patiño arrived and asked where she could find Palette, she said an employee responded, “That’s us. This is OYO.” According to Patiño, the employee claimed the alternate listing was created to see which name would “gain more traction.”
The addresses add another layer to the confusion. OYO’s website lists Palette Las Vegas and Collection O Las Vegas at addresses directly next to the OYO Hotel & Casino, while descriptions for both properties reportedly point guests back to the OYO’s location. The listings also advertise amenities associated with OYO.
Gay, who regularly reviews hotels around the city, alleged that Palette’s online listing contains dozens of AI-generated images that don’t accurately represent the property. “OYO Las Vegas has been my number one ‘worst hotel in Vegas’ for ages. It’s dirty, smells bad, unsafe and things are always broken,” she wrote in the caption.
The hotel itself has undergone several transformations over the decades. The property dates back to 1973 as the Howard Johnson Hotel and eventually became the San Remo before reopening as Hooters Casino Hotel in 2006. OYO Hotels & Homes and Highgate acquired the property in 2019, and it was subsequently rebranded as OYO Hotel & Casino Las Vegas.
Gay, who has previously documented her own negative experience staying at OYO, now plans to investigate the Palette listing herself. She told followers she booked a stay and intends to ask about the situation when she checks in.
