Taylor Swift seemingly had her music removed from multiple TikTok videos posted by President Donald Trump’s social media team.
On Wednesday, August 12, the White House used Swift’s 2021 track “I Bet You Think About Me” over footage of Trump, 80, speaking to supporters. A caption referenced the song’s lyrics, with the White House writing, “We know you think about us.”
However, as of late Wednesday, the TikTok video is now muted and features an onscreen caption announcing that “this sound isn’t available.”
This incident comes on the heels of the Team Trump TikTok account using Swift’s “August” in a campaign video on Saturday, August 8, along with the caption, “I’m sure Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song.” Hours later, “August” was replaced by other music after an onscreen message explained that “the copyright owner hasn’t made this sound available in your country.”

Us has reached out to representatives for Swift and the White House for comment.
The White House routinely uses popular music in its social media videos without consulting the artists.
Katy Perry, Kesha and Ariana Grande have all condemned the White House this year for using their songs in social media content glorifying Trump’s divisive immigration policy and the war in Iran.
In October 2025, the White House admitted to intentionally antagonizing artists to generate more views for its social media content. At the time, there was outrage among Swift’s fans when the official White House TikTok account posted a video based on the singer-songwriter’s No. 1 hit “The Fate of Ophelia.”
“We made this video because we knew fake news media brands would breathlessly amplify them,” a White House spokesperson told Us at the time. “Congrats, you got played.”
Taylor Swift on WH Press Secretary's Spotify Recap Despite Trump's Attacks
More recently, Trump mocked Swift’s wedding to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce on July 4 before insisting during a July 6 press conference that he is more influential than Swift on TikTok.
“It was announced about two days ago. The new numbers just came out. You know who the No. 1 person in TikTok is by far? Trump, me. I’m No. 1,” Trump announced without citing his source. “Like, Taylor Swift was number 11. I’m No. 1 in TikTok by far.”
Swift has largely stayed away from directly engaging with Trump’s attacks though she did endorse his 2024 presidential opponent, former Vice President Kamala Harris.
“Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site,” she wrote at the time. “It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”
Trump Changes Tune on Taylor Swift When Asked About Travis Kelce Engagement
Swift went on, “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”
Trump ultimately defeated Harris, 61, in the November 2024 presidential election.
