CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — Another suspect accused of killing and torturing Sam Nordquist is due in court on Friday and is expected to change their plea.
Nordquist’s family told News10NBC Kyle Sage is expected to plead guilty while in court Friday. So far, two other people have pleaded guilty, and another took a plea deal in this case.
First defendant takes plea deal
In June, Emily Motyka took a plea deal, pleading guilty to second-degree murder and second-degree kidnapping and waiving her right to an appeal.
Next defendant pleads guilty
Not long after that, Precious Arzuaga, Sam’s girlfriend who he met online, pleaded guilty to the entire indictment accusing her of kidnapping, torturing, and killing Sam.

Investigators describe Arzuaga as the leader of the group that abused and killed Sam. She has admitted to torturing Sam physically and psychologically for around a month before he died in February of 2025.
Arzuaga’s charges come with a sentence of life in prison without parole. The Ontario County District Attorney’s Office didn’t offer her a plea deal, so she had no benefits from waiving her right to a trial by jury. She is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 4.
Most recent guilty plea
On July 15, Jennifer “Brooklyn” Quijano pleaded guilty to murder in the first degree, two counts of kidnapping in the first degree, conspiracy in the first degree, aggravated sexual abuse in the first degree, concealment of a human corpse, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Quijano also waived the right to a trial by jury. Her sentencing will take place on Sept. 8 at 9:30 a.m.

In total, seven people were charged with Sam’s murder. Sam, a 24-year-old transgender man from Minnesota, came to Canandaigua in September 2024 to meet Arzuaga.
Sam’s family got suspicious after losing contact with him and reported him missing on Feb. 9, 2025.
Investigators say Sam was tortured at Patty’s Lodge before being dumped in a Yates County field. New York State Police found his body on Feb. 13, 2025.
