A wildfire burning in Northern California's El Dorado County has prompted mandatory evacuation orders for parts of the Somerset area, officials said Monday.
As of Monday afternoon, the Hawk Fire has grown to 40 acres with no containment reported.
The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office issued a mandatory evacuation order for the Somerset Perimeter Zone, including areas from Hawk View Lane to Perry Creek Road and Gray Rock to Slug Gulch Road.
The north side of that area, up to Grizzly Flat Road and Casa Contenta Drive, is under an evacuation warning. A live evacuation map can be found here.
Residents in the evacuation area are being directed to leave using Fairplay Road and Mount Aukum Road.
A temporary evacuation center has been set up at the Placerville Library, 345 Fair Lane, in Placerville. Officials said the location is not an overnight shelter, but is available for evacuees to get information, make plans and charge electronic devices.
Animals are allowed at the temporary evacuation center if they are kept in kennels or on a leash.
Residents can check evacuation information and zone boundaries through the county's evacuation map.
Firefighters continue to work to contain the blaze. Additional information about the fire's containment and cause was not immediately available.
